I similar to have a propane insert contained by my fireplace but it's behind the times and requests to be replaced. Is it something I can do

It isn't staying lit anymore and I've never been joyous with the look of the logs (it be really cheap!). I've found lots of suppliers of inserts and some people's comments say that they have no trouble replacing their old one beside their new one. On the other foot, some people hold an HVAC contractor install theirs, which I imagine costs $$$$!

What's the REAL story? Can I do it myself? I'm reasonably handy around the house.

I've got two fireplaces; the vault burns wood but this one's in the parlor, used for guests merely and I appreciate how clealy the propane burns.

Thanks!

Answers:    agree with above.... but also hold a gas company come out and double check for leaks, its worth the little bit you'll spend
Sure you can do it. engender sure the gas is off an hold the old one out piece by piece, the burner will requirement to be disconnected but if you are Handy at all near tools you will see what needs to be done. only just be sure to test the gas connections you replace next to soap solution to be sure you have no leak (bubbles forming)
