There are pond shops and sites and home depot to sell you pond liner to line the inside or the "aquarium" which is just a word that means water habitat.
You can use landscape timbers stacked and bolted together to make an indoor pond that you can put a plywood frame on and use as extra seating just like a garden pond.
People make ponds out of beer barrels and whiskey barrels, and all that is is slats and metal banding to hold the shape together, they are all lined with pond liner or 14mm plastic to keep the wood dry and the fish wet.
I have seen indoor ponds made with 4x4 and t1-11 and metal strapping you can get at he hardware store.
You just don't want to let the pressure of the water get away from you and cause your box to break so lots of support and lots of strapping.

wouldnt be an aquarium, it would be a box to hold fish in......aquarium is for looking thru to the fish......u can get a used one cheaper than u can build a wooden one!
You can but then you would have to wrap it in fiberglass mess then paint with marine paint.
If you seal the wood on all edges really good and give it a bunch of topcoats with a non water based finish then seal all of your joints with silicone really good, I bet you would have a one hell of a nice little aquarium. just add water, fish, and other stuff. I wouldn't recomend cutting holes for windows.
