Is at hand any cheap stuff similar to cork?

I'm hanging up two map and inevitability something to put behind them so the pins don't stir into the wall. I would love to use a roll of cork, but it's just to expensive. I also looked into foam board, but it's not long ample. Does anyone have any concept on something to mount these on?

Note poster size: 50" by 32"

Thanks!

Answers:    My first thought is to buy a sheet of construction grade, insulating foam. It's sold as dilute as 1/2 inches perhaps, up to 3 inches? Often sold surrounded by 4 x 8 or 2x8 sheets.

You may be able to buy a partial sheet from HD or Lowes, but even full, it isn't prohibitively expensive.

Certainly not indistinguishable as cork, which is vegetable based/ plant material, but the construction title foam is dense, and might accept "T" pins, or maybe tacks.

You mention the foam board not man long enough. No offense, but you may not own explored all the possibilities, as I mention above.

I use those 2' x 4' ceiling tile things - you can cover them with material, or paint them. use them for notice boards around the house. The finished side that face the room when they are used as ceiling tiles has little holes, so use the final side on the front, pins fall out of the little holes. I get mine at the Habitat for Humanity Restore for a buck a piece ! For a larger surface you can butt several together
