I live surrounded by an building give or take a few 40 years antediluvian. I tried to drill a screw into a stud contained by the wall but it basically?

won't drive into it like it is petrified. I enjoy tried different studs and it is all like peas in a pod. It is for a wall mount for a guitar holder so I need it sturdy. Why won't it get into? Anything I can do?


Answers:    In old construction the small piece of the wood has tightened up so much that it is approaching steel. The answer is to drill a pilot hole just a moment or two smaller than the screw and than it will allow you to screw it in.
