Answers: It really depends on your local market. Some places lumber is thoroughly expen$ive and other masonry is costly. Check several home centers, brick yards, and lumber yard to get an opinion of local prices.
For the long term masonry will be most cost potent. Termites don't eat bricks, and bricks don't necessitate all the upholding that wood does.
You have to do the math using building materials within your area. The Home Depot comfort desk will do the math for you if you ask them nicely. Brick may cost a bit less within the long run because you don't have to refinish it every few years. Of course, you can use the bright plastic wood-like decking and avoid that chore. It's a bit more expensive. Your choice have to fit your home's style and lifestyle. 10' x 20' is large ample for most decks but if you absorb a lot and expect more guests, it may be easier to hold them spill over onto the lawn if you use pavers. If you have need of to move things around a lot contained by this area - getting a BBQ grill to alternate locations - the deck is nice and smooth. But if you inevitability to move your lawnmower from one side to the other, you'll be thankful you hold a patio. I built a deck for us because I looked-for it to serve as an "island" separate from the rest of the yard.
Over time, your brick pavers will be cheaper and easier to continue. Depending, of course how much the pavers you choose cost. (Sand and gravel is cheap within NJ). Cost more to have it deliver. Don't but the bagged stuff at a home center- you will be paying more than twice as much for it compared to matching stuff from a yard.
There are a wide open range of paver blocks available immediately and some are very nice. My deck have two large portico on either side of it, one nouns is for cooking- the other contains a lounge area, while the deck contains the consumption area.
Are you building a deck or a porch? Both come off your patio/sliding doors. the balcony is on the ground, usually with stones or pavers. A deck is timber and is normally above the ground by several inches.
I own both, in reality I have six small portico. I used a form I made and, using premix cement, made my own bricks, just approaching the adobe the Mexicans made for their homes. It worked out real powerfully and was much cheaper.
I also hold a deck, we didn't put a railing on it, we don't have children so we used it as sector of the design of the yard. The deck take more maintenance obviously being wood.
I judge it's a matter of what you approaching, they're both nice. I also laid 200 feet of sidewalk this track, using a form I made for brick, I used 90 bags of premix.
The brick pavers and materials would be smaller number expensive, and less upkeep. You would own to keep up the wooden deck every year by using a sealer/painting. Once your pavers are down its done! Iv,e have both and pavers less upkeep.
