how do I clean my jacuzzi pool filter?

I can't get the Ring lock off! I've removed the water and released the air pressure...I can get the ring lock off of the pump part and clean out the basket, but I can't get the other one off to remove and clean the cartridge.

I had the same problem when I was repairing pools. What a moronic design! Jacuzzi should win an award for coming up with that one. I finally made myself a "strap wrench" to give me extra leverage. Worked like a champ. Says something about engineering when you have to have a tool to get at something that needs routine care. Good luck. By the way, when it comes time to replace that thing remember this experience and buy a different brand.

buy a new one and replace the old one.keep thee old one as back up.but if you have a filter that has a back wash system all you need is to operate that system to clean it.otherwise do the first and clean accordingly after you read the directions

Are you turning it in the right direction? It should rotate counter clockwise to loosen.
