how do you remove liquid nails from walls that was left on when removing formica?
Answers:
Sander, chisel or razor blade. No solvent will do a very thorough job. Patch any gouges with wall-patch and sand, prime and paint or simply tile over the mess, gouges and all.

That sucks. I had the same problem. It took a very long time and made a mess, but I used a power sander with industrial strength sandpaper (made for metal). It took it off eventually.
Lesson learned: Don't use liquid nails if there's even a slight chance the project won't be permanant.

Run a razor knife along the drywall at the highest point of the glue, then peel off the paper, do the repair to the drywall as necessary- if possible stay below the backsplash of the new Top, no repair needed that way.
