How to build a shift pushcart near a vertical engine?

my boys want to build a go pushcart and they have come home next to a pretty good sward mower, that runs. I do not know how to make a vertical engine move the walk cart. Can any one oblige me, also we do not have plentifully of money to spend on this project. If there are things I can use from other items I can probably win my hands on those prety trouble-free, through friends and local salvage yards.

Answers:    run a automotive V belt as the 90 level angle gearset. The gearset costs too much and the belt costs little to none. So itll go close to this

Engine, below the engine would be the centrifigual clutch. the the belt, which would make the 90 amount turn and go to the manacle on its own driveshaft, and then enjoy the chain turn to the wheels, and it is set to ride. Otherwise you can probably flip the gas tank sideways so it dosent slick, and make sure gas isnt leak out or getting into the oil and name it a day.
You stipulation some sort of angle gear reducer. This will get the power from the vertical shaft to a horizontal position. The engine will hold to be mounted higher than middle-of-the-road to allow room for the reducer.
Too bad you didn't come home beside a pretty good edger. Using a vertical shaft motor will mete out the kids nothing but grief. A vertical shaft lawnmower engine is not designed for that munificent of horizontal strain at the end of the shaft.
