DIY lend a hand, fix a flaky wall?

I have purely striped wallpaper off my wall.
To my surprise the wall is patchy, rough, and flaky. Every time I rub my hand on the wall or sand the wall, small grins of sand rub off on the floor.

The solution to the problem will be to re-plaster or re-skim but I don’t hold the money and I don’t have the expertise (no how) to plaster a wall.

Is in attendance an inexpensive way for a DIY recruit to solve the problem?

Answers:    it sounds to me this wallrequires to be sealed witha diluted pva solution available from most diy shops, coat the wall next to the solution let it dry and next fill any highest blemishes with a fine surface polyfilla, after re paper or paint as required

You still have the wallpaper cement on the wall. You can get a sponge and soapy marine and scrub the wall really well, rinsing the sponge habitually. Let dry and paint the wall with an grease primer then top coat next to whatever paint you choose!
