remove the pulp and seeds from inside the pumpkin. fill the pumkin with borax. leave for 24 hours the remove the borax.

Take the pumpkin and cover it in kosher (non table) salt. Put it to the side for a while. Later it will appear that all the water will be out of pumpkin and just sitting atop the flesh, at which point you can wash the pumpkin off and put it in the sun for an hour or two to completely dry it out.
