Ventfree Natural gas heaters.?

Why is Ca. the only state that prohibits this type of heat? Are the EPA laws different, and if so why?

Answers:    It's not purely California. Building codes also restrict sales of these products contained by Montana, Massachusetts, New York City, Austin, TX and Stark County OH; and many other states own certain areas where on earth they are still prohibited, including areas of Colorado depending on the elevation. (See here: http://www.shopfnc.com/gasheater/ventfre... )

It's not so much the EPA laws as it is regional building codes. Building codes tend to fill behind the times as next to any other type of bureaucratic nonsense. The evaluation article cited here includes many pertinent reference about these devices: http://www.epinions.com/content_49080976...

Personally, I would other feel safer and more protected with a vent type of heating, specifically one using flammable fuels that results in combustion exhaust products.
The simple justification for the restricting laws surrounded by some states is because when these type heaters are new they burn vastly clean and own clean safe emissions.

As they draw from older they collect dust and the burners open to wear. As this happens the flame begin to burn less simplified and begins to let off small amounts of harmful gas. The older the element is the more harmful gas are vented into the living nouns.

The process is gradual but one day the element is pumping poison into the living area of the house or building in need the occupants knowing anything just about it.
