could a country be founded with no money involved?
Answers:
I think the short answer to that is NO, simply because there are various definitions for money, in economics is any goods or services that fulfills the money functions: such as; a medium of exchange, store of value, and unit of account. The "rewards" should be anything that will feed me, love me, and give me shelter.
In response to you comment: I guess, I didnt understand the "rewards" you were talking about. If there is no money (bills) I meant that we could use all of that as means to barter, as the basics. You have other things such as labor etc...

Vatican City, i believe is a registered country and now is the richest of riches.
Alas, you can only do away with money once resources are infinite. The problem with all systems that attempt to do without a pricing system is perpetually one of allocation; how do you allocate when you don't have a price reference? The price, and the direction of prices, tells us precisely what is in too much or too little supply compared to demand, and we allocate accordingly. Take away the price, and we allocate arbitrarily. In such systems we usually find political motivations in production. Given how good politicians are at "pricing" things (the Big Dig was supposed to cost $350 million, and someone thought a $250 million bridge to nowhere was a good idea) you'll have as much success claiming in your new country that the sea will be above the sky.
