How do you modification pvc pipes properly?

Answers: If the trap has connector nuts,( slip united nuts) you can unscrew it to remove. More likely it is glue which means you will own to cut it out and replace with couplings or latest pieces and some pipe.
The waste and overflow for the tub is removable so perchance only one cut may be needed.
PVC is glue and can not be taken apart....cut out a section near a hacksaw and you can get inline couplers to re assemble the pipes....if you are unsure, bid a plumber and they can fish the item out in most cases minus damage.
