I need a diagram on how to wire a generator transfer switch i have one like at the homedepot.?

I have a L 14 20 amp locking switch for my generator what kind of end will i need to plug in to the transfer switch outlet and how do you wire the plug and what grade wire do you use if possible a diagram.

Answers:
A transfer switch doesn't plug in. It needs to be wired into the main circuit breaker panel. So I don't think you are referring to a transfer switch. Also, the rules for connecting generators and transfer switches are more complicated than basic electrical wiring, so I suggest getting a licensed electrician to wire the transfer switch for your generated. The L 14 20 is not a switch it is a plug/receptacle.

After I wrote the above I realized maybe you meant you already have a transfer switch hardwired in your home and you have an inlet (not an outlet since it gives power to the transfer switch) that you need to connect to the generator. Go to
