Installing a conceit lantern fixture...reversed?

We're installing a vanity lantern fixture. White to white, black to black and the red (ground?) to the copper support wire on the fixture. When we turn the breaker put a bet on, the switch is in the past its sell-by date position and the light is on. When I flip the switch to the on position, the lantern goes bad and the breaker goes past its sell-by date. Any help for us?


Answers:    Will b is totally wrong. Red is you switch leg, that's why when you turn on the switch it pops the breaker, you enjoy it spliced to ground. Red wire contained by the wall box goes to black on the fixture. Keep adjectives the whites together. Keep any black wires in the box together but disconnect the black from the fixture and splice it to the red contained by the box. black is constant hot, red is switch leg. If you don't have a stripped or green wire surrounded by the box attach the fixture ground to the screw on the box.
turn power off, remove the red line, its not a ground, red is hot, use a wire nut to sou`wester it off, after tape it, lights dont involve a ground, but any plug in near in 6 ft of a dampen sink needs to be a GFI outlet,
