The airport where i work has an old L-Tech Tig machine that is set up where you can go from tig to stick with the flip of a switch but it doesent' have but two different amp settings? how do i set it up for 1/8" 6010 or 1/8" 7018 sticks on 1/8 to 1/4 inch steel plate?

Yeah, what the other bloke said. All welders have some kind of amperage regulator, either a dial or handle. That is pretty light guage steel you're welding (mild steel?) so you'll need it pretty low so as not to blow holes in the steel. In my country the welding electrodes (sticks) are rated by their diameter. I use mainly 3.2mm general purpose for welding mild steel. I think you should use 2.5mm for the light guage steel. I don't know what this equates to in the states. On the packet of electrodes there should be the current range for which they may be applied.
