can you use ceramic glaze on already glazed tiles such as daltile?
Answers:
Sounds like your trying to change the color or want to make your own design. In any case you can glaze the tile but you will need a kiln to fire it. Also Ive been in the tile buiseness over 30 years, and I know any tile store can order you whats called bisque. Its basically any tile of your choice you can get from the factory unglazed or uncolored then do it your self. Sometimes its allot cheaper because they dont have the costs of finishing for you.

The home improvement guy is right about bisque tiles. If you buy glazed tiles and try to glaze over them you would have to know exactly what the tiles are made of and at what temp. they were fired at when glazed the first time- that's almost impossible. An alternative could be to use mostly store bought tiles and a few tiles (for accent) that you paint and glaze with your design at a paint-your-own craft place. or ceramic 'paint' from a craft store, but that won't hold-up under lots of scrubbing.
