Answers: no do not use the carpet explicitly already there it will simply start the new mat riding up i know when we lifted my grandmothers carpet newspaper be used as underlay but if you can possibly afford proper underlie it will pay you contained by the long run the better the underlay the longer your carpet will last
Well, theres Hammersmith Carpets surrounded by East Acton if you live near within. Its not a major store so it will be cheap
or you could check your nearest council skips
try & rescue for new underlie...its lovely walking on new hearth rug with a clad underlay...dont lay it resting on short pile carpet - that wont work long residence....shop around - you might be surprised!
Like most things, you get what you settle for. Don't use the old hearth rug. Do you really want all the dirt and grime tap under your unknown carpet for years?
You obligation to buy the underlay according to the wear and crack. Hallways and stairs need unwieldy duty underlay.

Quality hearth rug padding will extend the natural life of the carpet.
Cheaper (less dense & thinner) wad is fine if it's all you can afford, but you MUST any install pad or GLUE DOWN the mat directly to the floor (it must be concrete). Don't install over old carpeting which have stains & odors (even if you don't see/smell them now, verbs back the runner in a corner and you will). That's close to putting clean sheets lying on dirty ones.

I firmly believe that your carpet is individual as good as the underaly beneath it.
When I get my first house I made the mistake of getting good carpet and the cheapest underlay I could find. Cheap underaly make your carpets wear more like lightning and in a short amount of time it feel as though you are walking on bare floor boards as defiant lovely carpets because cheap underlie goes flat! and I be going to flat as a pancake. It's horrible stuff. I had to reimburse for a carpet fitter to come put a bet on to the house to re-lay my floors with obedient underlay and consequently put the carpet pay for down again.
If you get dutiful underlay your carpet feel luxurious underfoot for years and years and what's more, when you come to coppers your carpets again you won't requirement to buy new underlie again you will be able to use alike one.
