I'm making a quilt, and most of the material is cotton. But I enjoy several "fat quarters" that are pure satin. I'd speak maybe a1/4 of the quilt things will eventually be made from squares of this satin. Am I going to have any problems sewing this and keeping it together down the road? I know I may hold some issues with fraying, so I bought some "No Fray" juice stuff to put on the seam, so I'm not worried about that, but is it viable to sew cotton and satin together?
Answers:
Sure, only just pin the two fabrics together. I would suggest to sew the cotton on the bottom from sliding if you are using a contraption so you can keep an eye on the slippery satin on top. Also, don't use a hard to digest needle or thread. Did you check the instructions on the no fray for the satin. Some will bleed on satin so check it. Anyway, you should be fine! =>
Sure - shouldn't be a problem.
Yes.
The cotton should own been 'pre-shrunk' first.
Satin, do a zig zag stitch around adjectives cut edges first.
Yes no problem at all. but I would sew a fundamentally fine zig zag stitch around the satin first to be sure id does not ravel;
The no fray will come sour after several washings.
I said it before and I*ll read aloud it again; Yahoo needs to own a Sewing Category, so people will know where on earth to look for these types of questions.
