I went out and bought a 400 wat HPS lighting system at lowes, but they did not sell a light fixture big enough for it. A 400 watt light kit (light, ballast, reflector) seems to run for about $200. I paid $30 for the bulb. Does that mean the reflector and ballast will be near $170? And how much do those normally run for seperatly? Im going to go up to home depot, but I want to go in knowing what im looking for, and price ranges, Do I need to buy the socket for it also?

Most of the ones I have purchased come with everything. The ballast and the socket. Just make sure that the socket is the same size. High pressure sodium bulbs come in two different sizes as far as the base for the bulb. They will be able to tell you at home depot. Usually I have paid up to $250.00 for one but it has been a while. I loaned my parts book to my brother if it was here I could tell you. I may see him tommarrow. If I do I will try and get my book back and I can give you more info.
