Pineapple plant?

My friend got a potted pineapple plant beside a small pineapple growning on it, maybe 7" elevated,

Is it safe to re-pot it while the pineapple is still on it ?

How can you relay when it's ripe ?

Answers:    The original plant will slowly die once it bear fruit.

Don't repot now, it should produce suckers that can be planted when immense enough.

If it be me, I would not replant it until the pineapple is removed. You will be able to smell the pineapple when it is ripe. The room will be complete with a pleasing odor.
