Vanila essence is obtained from which plat? how do i grow it?
Answers:
well, u don't really grow it... unless u live in the rain forest, or maybe mexico.
but u can try it as an indoor plant( of course, don't expect for extraordinary results!):
-protect from frost
-place near window in light shade (not direct sun light)
-regular watering and humidity
-cuttings reproduced (they must rest for 1-2 weeks in a shady area before repoting)
-2-3 cuttings placed together in 1 pot
-soil well drained (ex: 2/3 light humus , 1/3 scoria)
Vanilla planifolia
fam. Orchidaceae
-is a vine. it will grow and grow , so u have to fold the higher parts downwards
-1 flower -- 1 fruit. the flower lasts 1 day. have to use manual artificial pollination
-when the fruit is ripe, it releases the distinctive vanilla smell
flavour & smell compound: vanillin
essential oil : piperonal (affects the odour of natural vanilla).
hope this helps...so, where do u live??
