What have easiest upkeep and best for bug repelling..mulch or rock?

I live in Central Florida, so it is hot and humid most of the year. I am trying to amount out what is best to use for my landscaping. I approaching the way red lava rock looks best, but am also ok beside rocks of mixed colors (not the plain white kind). I dislike the cedar/cypress/etc mulchs the most, but will use what's best. Also, I am looking for something that is uncomplicated to keep cleaned up when the leaves start falling. I enjoy mulch now and its knotty to use the blower or rake. In summary, I want something easy to upkeep, honourable for the plants, keep bugs at inlet (as much as possible). Any suggestions?

Answers:    Here in Fla the Cypress Mulch will preserve most of the cockroaches away. Cockroaches do not like cypress for some object. but it is not easy to save up and you do have to replenish it twice to three times a year due to sun and rainfall.
I only use Cypress Mulch and I enjoy lived here in Central Fla adjectives my 50 years.
River rock is the easiest to clean out surrounded by the fall.Start the blower and blow it adjectives away.Rinse with hose and they look like clean, they also last forever.
Cypress mulch, anything else can be a breeeding ground for palmetto bugs!
I enjoy to go next to rock over natural mulch, because crude mulch does decay away and have to be renewed. Also pay attention to rock size. Too small and will launch near an inexperienced blower operator. Smaller stone can be rake, but that breaks up the plant pieces, I'd rather pinch a blower and get it out of in attendance with the smallest possible physical damage.

Ideally, you enjoy the landscape plants next to the least amount of trash. If you hold trashy trees and shrubs, perhaps there's a third alternative????
Mixed color rocks would look nice.

Tumbled river rock, also.

Cockroaches close to to nest in mulch surrounded by hot, humid areas.

I'd choose the rock.

I have found the best insect repelling mulch is pecan shell hulls.
I live surrounded by central florida and I suggest cypress mulch but engineer sure it does not get exposed to chemicals or brackish it will kill the mulch . also dont use pecan shells they attract the brown solitary person spiders which are very prevelant within florida . also cockroaches do not like cypress because it expels a scent that they cannot stand . right luck .
