Why do some flowers one and only start on at darkness?
Answers: So that they will attract nocturnal insects as pollinators e.g. moths, one example is Nick Silver (Nicotiana sylvestris)
In winter, winter flowering plants tend to self fertilize, so insects aren't needed. e.g. white deadnettle and hazelnut
Yellow and blue flowers proliferate in spring to attract bees and other precipitate insects as the weather starts to warm up.
