In UK, Ladybird was named after Virgin Mary (corruption of name). Why do we Canadians call it a Ladybug?

Answers:
i live in Canada and always called them lady bugs. I didn't know there was another name but they are pretty and they bring good luck

Other answers:
because it is a good name
because it is a good name
They call it the same as America and it's not a bird, it's a bug or insect and lady insect doesn't sound that good so ladybug it is.
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet." -shakespear

or should it be

"What's in a name? That which we call a lady bug by any other nationality it would become a bird..." -the one that is "I"
We used to call it a Ladybird bug, and then over a period of time, we shortened it to Ladybug.
