boxwood hedge removel?

I have some boxwood hedges that are very unhealthy and i would like to remove them. Anyone ever do this before. They are older boxwoods, still alive, but look half dead and bare in some spots.

i have removed hedges before , and it all just depends on how hard you want to work at removing them ,you can poor roundup hedge killer on them and they will die with in a few days and then you can remove them ,, or you can work a little harder and use something to pull them up from the root its very important you get all the root because if you don't it will grow back in time, or you can cut them down as close to the ground as you can and then dig up whats left which is the root but you have to be sure you kill that root,

yes, i have. i cut them down as low to the ground as i could, then dug around the stumps and pulled as much of them out as i could. i filled the area in, and planted perennials. i have seen some people pull them out with a chain hooked up to a truck, but that seemed like overkill to me.
