help me with my tree!!?

Im not sure what kind of tree this is, but it is deciduous, and its got some sort of tumor that looks like a mushroom cloud sticking out of the branch... what is this? and how do i go about eliminating it????

i would cut off the branch - then clean off whatever tool you used to prevent future infection.

If the tree is outside, it sounds like someone has trimmed a limb off of it.
Trees heal themselves, but sometimes they are unsightly.

Well, I would take a picture of it, and then call your CoOperative Extension Program in the Yellow Pages.

They have Professionals that are associated with Universities, that will be able to tell you what you have, by looking at the picture, and knowing what type of tree it is, just from the leaves...
