i have a red japanese maple& a green shoot has started from it & grown. i want to take off & the plant green.?

I think the green should turn red in time. I would give it a while longer and see what happens. If the shoot is growing awkward, though, you may need to go ahead and remove it.

Reading the second part of your question, I'm not sure you can replant the 'sucker'. It would need to develop a root system before you plant it. and I don't know how you'd do that...not with this kind of plant. Best bet would be to remove the 'sucker' and toss it out.

the reason why the plant turned green is its turning back to the colors it was before the plant was grafted... grafting is a way to make your plant the way it is.. what you need to do is trim away all the green part.. even if it comes back.. but if you want a unusual japanese maple.. then keep it the way it is..
If you want to start another plant from the sucker, you need to use rooting hormone like Rootone. You can buy it a garden center. Cut the sucker off at the bottom with really sharp pruners. then trim it down to about two inches tall with maybe one or two leaves. The part that you keep should be soft, new growth. Follow the instructions on the Rootone container. You increase your chance of success by increasing the humidity around the cutting, so I usually put a Ziploc bag over the top of the pot but leave it open at the bottom. Good luck!
