if you are planting directly into the wall ,try hens and chicks, different variaties of sedums ,wooly thyme ,creeping thyme ,armerias, dianthus pinks, If you mean in pots ,some ivy ,trailing petunias ,geraniums hanging lobelias.but you'll need to deadhead flowers every couple weeks at least, to keep em blooming
What about Periwinkle? It will grow hanging down just as easy as small climber - comes in green or variegated - can have blue or white flowers.
nasturtiums would be nice, they hang down about 2 feet if you plant them right on the edge... you could also plant something in the joints of the wall, just take fiberglass window screen and hold it into the surrounding joints with roofing nails to make a basket... line it with cloth weed barrier and place your plant of choice inside... stagger these around the wall... very cool effect.
make sure you water these very often, they dry out as quickly as outdoor potted plants! good luck!
Chamomile and asparagus fern will drape nicely, as will many ferns, for greenery. Try sweet peas and wave petunias for color. Also try calibrachoa for lovely foliage and color if planting in pots or in soil on top of wall. Other plants ideal for this are clematis, honeysuckle, star jasmine, cat's claw, ice plant and wild or everbearing strawberries.
depends where the wall is. if it is level with garden, then aubretia looks pretty in the spring and summer with purple flowers and remains green throughout winter. it forms cushions and doesn't need much maintenance only a trim after flowering. also ivy is good for covering and low maintenance. if it is from ground level upwards, then a wisteria grown in a large pot would grow up very quickly and can be trained along the wall. it has beautiful hanging flowers in either lilac, purple or white before foliage and when leaves appear they are very pretty too.
Bougainvillea, will hang beautilul and the colors are great ..... ck your zone it's good in the south
Try clematis montana.
i have a beautiful rambling rose, which grows like wild fire, in summer it is swamped with lovely pink and white flowers, which last a good 3 weeks. you can chop it back any how, or time you like. it is semi evergreen so always look good. and is a brilliant deterent against burglars ! i bought mine from a st bridgets nursary outlet, it is called american pillar. you can also get them from bill le grice rose breeder in norfolk. which will send you what ever one you you choose. it really makes our summer ! very lovely. give it a go. you wont be dissapointed !
