Go to your local nursery.

If you want a really rampant climber, try Virginia Creeper, the fastest growing plant I know of. On a fence it will become very dense and flower for most of the summer. be sure to cut it right back during the winter.
I'm in Richmond. Holly shrubs are nice and have done well in my yard. This fall I hope to plant Yuletide Camelia - they have both a spring and fall version and produce different color beautiful big flowers. I'd go to a garden center though because you and I might now be in the same zone. VA has different zones.
