Tulips inside?

I have some tulip bulbs chillin' contained by the fridge right now. I'm going to nick them out at the end of January. When I plant them, should I hang on to them inside my apartment or leave them on my veranda? I live in Southern California when our winter and spring is moderate surrounded by temperature and sometimes pouring (if we're lucky). Would they grow better inside or out?

Answers:    In your area it sounds as though you could choose within or out. You just call for "Spring-like" temps for them to begin their cycle. Hopefully you enjoy them in dissertation not plastic in your fridge. Plastic cause mold and rots your bulbs. They will sucessfully grow indoors in a bright sunny fanlight. This is refered to as "forcing" and can be done with any spring bulb.
