Is there any product that will kill snails and not my dog?

Diatomaceous earth. It is the stuff regularly used in pool filters - a powder of sorts. It tears the exoskeletons of many beetles, snails and slugs apart and causes them to bleed to death in a way.
It's not harmful to anything other than insects.

Salt will definitely kill them. And not your dog.
Make aline of salt around whatever you don't want snails on or in and they will avoid the salt. (or die trying)

The timing of any baiting is critical; baiting is less effective during very hot, very dry, or cold times of the year because snails and slugs are less active during these periods.

a dish of beer works for slugs, I think it would do the same with snails.
Beer. It's cheap and safe for enviroment. It works like a charm. Pour a little in in a shallow dish in the evenings and see the results the next morning. Change/clean daily untill the snails are gone.
It's the yeast that kills them.
Salt is not good for your soil and could kill your plants.
