does a watermelon growing ,turn white on the top because of the sun or bottom becaue of not enuf sun?
Answers:
It is on the bottom and when the white turns yellow you have a ripe watermelon.
That is the best way to gage one you buy. Look for a "yellow belly".

I think the pale part would be the part that rests on the ground. It doesn't "turn white"; it just never develops the nice green color.

bottom because of not enuf sun. If it turns white on the top then it is not good to eat.
White on the bottom from lack of light. The green color in the rind comes from chlorophyll, it turns green in reaction to sun.
bottom cuz it dont have enough sun!

It is white on the bottom. You may as well turn it over, although I don't think it really matters.
It turns white on the bottom, because of no sunlight . This only affects the color of the outside of the melon, and in no way affects taste or quality ...
The pale part is the part that sits on the ground. It's pale because it doesn't get light. The green comes from photosynthesis and chlorophyll. Photosynthesis can't happen without sunlight and therefore can't make it green. Some people will shade the whole watermellon (not the plant, just the mellon)so it can grow larger.
