Answers:
First, find out what type of ants they are. You may have been using the incorrect method all this time while trying to kill them. Some ants are sugar eaters, some prefer proteins. So, figure that out, then you can choose the appropriate bait for the ants.

Next, find out what the ants are doing. What are they eating? Where are they going? Once you figure that out, chances are if you remove what it is that is attracting them, that should eliminate the problem. You may need a contact insecticide to kill off the ants inside while you are removing the attractant, then stick to the baits outside.

After that, you can apply the bait to the perimeter of your house to keep them outside. As long as what was inside is gone, once they get the bait outside, they'll stay out there!

That is what a pest control company would do. Hope this helps!

If you have done all you can then it is time to call the exterminator, that is why they are there.
get a service, its the only way....we had to do the same thing, and it took 5 years to get rid of them......sorry its a pain, I can sympathise
ants hate cucumbers. slice it up and put it around where they are and they wont go there anymore. cheap and doesn't hurt environment
ants will not cross a chalk line. So chalk powder will hold them back.
Plant mint around your house; in addition to smelling good, ants don't like it.
put turmeric powder at places whr u find thm d most....home remedy wud work
I used to have the same problem until I started treating my yard with "Over And Out" (Sold in Lowe's, Home Depot & Walmart). It keeps them away from my house and no more ants inside.
You are going to have to spray and lay poison every year. Their colony is already established and short of ripping up foundation there isn't a quick fix.
This way is the best way i think so to get rid of ants for they were at my house too.
1)Just block the hole the ants have made from which they come.
Probably by plastering it or by using cement.
2)Just avoid falling food and always keep the house clean.Keep the food in airtight containers
3)Keep food at a far off distance from ground
These r the ways to keep them away
You can do the same thing as an exterminator but cheaper. Get the required chemicals at Lowes, a good sprayer and spray the ground all around the home, spray the foundation and doorways. Go underneath the house and spray around the foundation . Don't skimp. Buy enough chemicals to do a thorough job.
Ants live in the ground except when they forage. If you can follow them as far back to their base and spray the trails you will get them.
Unfortunately this is going to have to be repeated 2 times or more a year. Most people fail when they think they have won, and quit spraying.
spread borax around your homes foundation
there is a spray called Talstar, I spray it three feet up and out allong the entire perimeter of my house very three months and no critters what so ever. You may be able to buy it in concentrat and dilute it using a hose end sprayer. those do it your self pest control shops or lesco.com might sell it. or you may need a pro to buy it and spray it.
if the ants ar in your house, watch what hey are eating, if its sweets use "Ant kill" if its oils mix ankill with ve oil if its protien mix ant kill with raw egg or egg white,. feed them for as long as they keep coming. theyll bring it back to the queen and the entire colony will be history. be carefull, these are poisons, treat them accordingly.
I had a major problem with Carpenter ants and such with our new house, but remembered as a child that my mother planted peonies outside the house to attrack the ants from the house...I have since done so at my new house and have had no problems with ants...so if you like flowers and wish to get rid of the ants, try this option.
a high frequency tone emitter is the thing that worked for me. after several visits from the exterminator (60 bucks a pop) the ants kept returning. i plugged this device in and left it on the counter in the kitchen - in 24hrs they were history. when you see ants it means that you have trained the colony to come to a certain place (usually the kitchen because of crumbs and such). you must now train them to avoid the premise. perhaps some of those other things will work - cucumbers and chalk and the like. all i know is that this device was inexpensive and most of all pervasive (the path from the colony to the kitchen counter could go anywhere - inside walls, behind moldings, through cracks in concrete). ask at your local hardware store, that's where i got mine.
Here is a five dollar fix and it works, buy some 20 Mule Team Borax laundry soap, go to a dollar store and by one of the squeeze ketchurp bottles and put the dry soap in it and apply around baseboards, kitchen cabinets anywhere you see the ants.
Leve the soap lay for several days until you no longer see any signs of the ants. They will carry the Borax back to their nest and it will kill them. When you no longer see any signs ov the ants vacuum up remaining Borax. I have used this remedy for years and my grandmother also used it.
