What's wrong with my tree?

I have a small red oak in my front yard. It's no more that 7 to 8 feet tall. The diameter around the trunk base is no more than six inches. The problem is that ever year so far it has failed to produce green leaves. All that come out are brown leaves and only towards the begining of the branches. Nothing at the end of the branches. Is my tree sick? Does it have some sort of fungus? Is there something in the lawn that is affecting it? If so, how can i treat it?
What should i do?

Gather on of your leaves.. take a picture and head into a garden center.. speak to a horticulturist.. they should be able to tell you. By chance is your oak on top of a septic field? I had that problem when I planted my dog wood on top of my septic field.. it pretty much died until I moved it.

do you fertilize your tree if not try to.
did u put the tree in yourself? if so then maybe it has to go more down so the roots can grow. or maybe there are termits in the trunk that are stoping the water from going yp the tree. you can to like home depo and ask what then have like tree food or something. its always good to go back were you got it from. if it was not there when you moved in. but ya good luck with your tree........
I would say your acorns are too small. Also did you try to fertilizer? Maybe the soil you have might not be suited for that tree. I would call a local nursery for answers.
