my lawn has little holes all over what kind of bug could it be and what should i get for it?
Answers:
It's not grubs, grubs rarely surface except when they're turing into there beetle form. And you know if it were grubs because that many grubs would kill your whole darn lawn. The holes you are getting are caused by none else than earthworms. The holes are a result of the worms boring up to the surface. Normally the holes wouldn't be seen or noticed except under a few circumstances. The holes are appearing in your yard because (I suspect) that your yard is extremely compacted. The soil is compressed to the point that there's no room in the ground. As worms move they normally just push the soil asiide. But now they must push it up to the surface because there is no where for it to go. The way to fix it is not to kill the worms but to relieve the the pressure and this will have enourmous benefits. Your yard needs to be aerated with a core-aerator. Different from normal aerators that just punch holes in the soil. A core-aerator will actually pull up little "cores" of soil and deposit it ont he surface. This will allow the soil to fill in the holes. The benefits are increased water drainage, better weed control, and more bang for your fertalizer buck. These holes (aerator holes) will allow water to penetrate the thatch layer and reach the root system, taking fertilizer and precious air down to encourage vigorous root growth. You may need to have this done several times, ans it can be expensive. Call your local rental place, and see if they have one to rent. Then aerate the heck outta your yard.
p.s. leave the plugs on the yardm they may look bad but they will help breakdown the thatch layer.
