I grew many sunflowers this year, and they enjoy dried up and died, but there are thousands of seed in the flowers. How do I grasp these out and clean them to store for subsequent year and to send to ancestors and possibly sell? There are a LOT, so I would stipulation to know how to deal next to this many.
Answers:
Take the leader off the plant, hold it over rag or plastic and rub the seeds near your hand. The seed will fall rotten the head more or less easily. Putting the seed in a thesis bag and bouncing it around should dislodge any blossom parts still attached. Spread them out within the sun so they can dry, they can mildew if they are not dried.
Then google "Sunflower seeds" to find a good "Cook and salt" recipe.

The seed can be set out for birds and squrrils this winter.
Excellent advice above, but do not distribute any salted seeds to wildlife.
