I found a black and gold/brn fuzzy catapillar does not want to get through, found on my doorstep please assist!!?
Answers: I suspect, given the time of year, that your little friend is ready to spin or otherwise gross its cocoon or chrysalis. I would put him back into the garden; doesn`t matter what he eats is out in attendance, or he wouldn't BE out there surrounded by the first place.
If you want to know what kind he is, I'd suggest sending a photo to an entomologist at a university in the neighbourhood you. I suspect they'd be happy to identify him for you, and share you what kind of moth or butterfly to look for within the spring when he's gone through his transformation.
Good luck!
leave it surrounded by the garden, it'll find its way, somehow it'll also find food. caterpillars are not pets
