Im trying to grow willow trees from cuttings. Any tips?

Taken some cuttings, put them in marine and they sprouted roots, so have potted them surrounded by some peat. Anyone have any tips for me to manufacture sure they grow nice and strong?

Answers:    Well done, but the best way to grow willow from cuttings is to help yourself to the cutting of complicated wood about 2ft long, a straight cut at the bottom and a cut at 45 level angle just above a strong bud and push it into the ground where on earth you want it to grow. 99 out of 100 will flourish. Willow will grow very strong and are really vigorous, they hold been prearranged to grow as much as 12 to 15 ft in one growing season, i own heard of 20 ft within extreme cases.
Willows are like weed, they don't need much incentive to grow, only stick them in the ground.
Willow cuttings can be placed directly into the ground. They season much quicker this way.

Pre-moisten your peat earlier planting your willow cuttings. Dry peat will repel water similar to water rotten a duck's back. You may also desire to use some (1/3) coarse sand mixed with your peat. Peat have little in nutrient advantage and makes solely a good short possession growing medium, so use a slow release fertilizer while within the peat.
They like living within full sun on river banks. Keep the peat moist, tallying potting soil will increase nutrients. MiracleGro!
Sounds like you're doing adjectives right already.
Try to find out what kind of environment it like.
Does it like to root philosophical? If so, get a longer, dogmatic pot.
They won't need any assist from you to grow big and strong, just plenty of hose down but be careful where on earth you plant them, they will suck the soil dry so you can't plant anything else near them (unless it's a cactus) and DEFINITELY nowhere implicit the foundations of your house. If you like willow be in motion get a Kilmarnock Willow (Salix Caprea Pendula). It's a willow that's be grafted onto a stock which single grows quite small and still have lovely fluffly catkins.
better off taking them from branches coppice etc cut them into 3 -4 inch length or any lengths rub off the first 3 inch's of the waxy costing till you hit green stick them within the ground simple. or dig a trench stuff with peat and soil partly cut branches into 3-4 inch lengths and throw them within the trench about 4 surrounded by down from Top cover with peat sea well hold a look in 3-4 months what own you
