What veggies grow best contained by D.C?
Answers: Hi,
You can grow almost any veggie in DC - the trick is picking the right series.
To do this, you will need to know your USDA stiffness zone - I think DC is a 6 or 7. You can find it at
http://www.burpee.com/category/vegetable... on the moved out nav.
Then pick seeds for your zone. For example - Big watermellons requirement a long growing season and hot weather - so you can only grow them contained by the south. But there are smaller variety which can be grown in the northeast.
Some veggies approaching tomatoes, peppers, eggplant - transport too long to mature if you grow from a kernel, so you need to any start growing them inside 6-8 weeks before planting them, or buy plants from your local garden center.
Some things that are pretty natural to grow are:
Potatoes, Corn, Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant, Carrots, Lettuce, Zuccini, Cucumber, String Beans, Peas, Radishes, Pumpkins.
Good Luck
