A desk kerosene lamp doesn't provide the same spectrum of hurricane lantern as the sun, so you should actually look for plants that do powerfully with little wispy. I recommend a philodendron. They are very hardy, they do very well in low-light conditions, and they are extremely forgiving if you forget to hose down them.

All three of these grow well indoors. Just be paid sure not to overwater. Test by checking with your finger respectively week. If the top is not completely dry, do not water.

Ivys do all right and are forgetful for a while if you forget to water them. They usually require you to dampen them weekly. But if you forgot to water or be on vacation and come back, the plant would look green all the same limp, once watered it would spring right put a bet on up.

I'd go near the Pothos. Its hard to snuff out them. If taken care of properly it will grow into the subsequent cubicle.
Potted Sansieveria would be ok. Just look for the small varieties resembling (Hanii). They can also stand neglect.
"Corn plants" (Dracaena fragrans `Massangeana') do exceedingly well surrounded by offices as they prefer low pale. They prefer existing light or room standard lamp; they actually don't resembling to get sunlight.
