Eat it and you'll know for sure if its actual Jimson's weed or not
There is an ornamental Datura that have round leaves and blooms at night. This plant is habitually advertised as Angel Trumpets. It is not a true Jimson Weed. It is true that the leaveslook resembling large holly leaves' the stem is prickly and red within color. The flower looks like a trumpet and does bloom at dark. The flower is white. The fruit looks like a prickly apple thus it's other term, Thorn Apple. I have one within my garden. I also have the attractive variety within my front yard. Be fussy if you are considering using Jimson weed for any "medicinal" purpose. An overdose can be quite aching and sometimes, fatal.
