What is the best track to plant a magnolia tree from pip contained by Oklahoma?

I brought home from Houston, some Magnolia tree cones with the little red seed. I live in Oklahoma, merely east of the city, and I would like to know how to plant some of them short killing them and, how long will it nick before I see some sort of sprout?

Answers:    it's best to allow the Magnolia cone to ripen on the tree. Remove the cone from the tree and tolerate the cone dry. The fleshy fruits will fall freely from the cone when properly dried. Soak the seed in gooey detergent and warm wet for 1-2 days to remove the waterproof coating. Remove from the detergent hose and remove any remaining flesh from the seeds. Dry the seed with a treatise towel. Place the seeds contained by a zip lock purse with moistened peat, vermiculite or sand and refrigerate for at most minuscule two months. Now your seeds are primed to be planted. Remember that seeds should not be planted deeper than two times their diameter.
