Why is sand based sod (grass) better than clay based sod?

Water will quickly drain through sandy soil, the clay is like a bowl it will hold water and keep it from draining off.

The answer to both is the sand based.
The sand based sod will drain faster and wont dry into a brick.
The sand based sod is also more drought resistant. It does not require as much water and wont brown as easily.
