I have 2 good large hostas that lived under a pine tree for a while, I cut the pine tree down last year and the hostas got more sun. Because of the draught last year in IL - no plants looked great, but these 2 plants in particular looked bad - many leaves turned yellow and "burned" on the edges. Should I move the plants to another shadier location or will they adjust to the full sun they get now in a non-draught summer? If I should move them... when is the best time?

Definitely move them, they cannot tolerate full sun during the hottest part of the summer. Hostas won't adjust to it, they will just turn brown and curl their leaves. They can be moved anytime you like, they are tough in that regard.

Hosta's are very hardy and will grow just about anywhere. They will do better however if they are in a semi shady spot rather than full sun. I would transplant them now.

Hostas are a hardy plant, but they should not be in the direct sun. Early Spring or fall would be the time to transplant them.
