Problems with my tomatoes.....?

I have a beautiful "patio" tomato plant, it has quite a few tomatoes on the plant and two have become ripe..... the problem is the tomatoes are mushy inside and the skin is a little tough. They are definitely not sitting on the vine to long as we watch them carefully....are there any experts in the tomato plants out there??

Answers:

ask a meyhey (mexican)
I'm sorry all I can give you is how to make them grow.. Mix 1tablespoon Epsom to one gallon of water. Apply that the roots.
I know what you mean because I once had problems with my peaches. My can opener broke and I couldn't get them out of the can....had to take an ax to them and it mashed them.
The thick skin and mushy "meat" shoulds like a specific variety of tomato. What type tomato is it? You may want to try a different variety.

It sounds like one of those genetically modified plants...which they have to tell you if they sell you GMO produce, but they don't have to tell you if the plant is or not. The skin is tough to help the tomato stay "fresh" and useable for a longer period of time...longer shelf life for grocery stores. Unfortunately if you let it vine ripen like you should be able to the insides get squishy. The only thing you can do is pick the tomatoes green and let them shelf ripen thanks to modern science. :P
