Have a look at a rainbow. The colours are situated together in a way that they dont clash. You can use any three adjoining colours.
Also, try a DIY place that mixes paints. They have colour charts showing which colours go well with each other. It sounds mad but it works!
Why stop at three! It's good to use colors in clumps but that's no reason just to use only those three in a whole garden. My favorite combinations are:
red, yellow, blue/purple
pink, white, orange
orange, red, yellow
blue, white, yellow
don't forget to add greenery, i.e. ground cover or vines, etc.
