I have a lost pidgeon in my yard, how do I go about finding an owner?

The pidgeon has a yellow and purple band on its legs.

Answers:
The bird is banded for a couple of reasons. It could be part of a study or it is a homing pigeon. Sometimes homing pigeons go on the wild side. I know this because we've raised them. You could find someone who raises them or just let it go and let nature take its course with the bird.

Other answers:
Pigeons don't get lost. Just leave it alone and it will find where ever it belongs by itself

You can do the same as if you found a lost dog. An ad in the paper (most papers have free "Lost & Found" ads), some posters in the supermarket. You could also check online to see if you have a pigeon fanciers club in your area; they might know who it belongs to, or they might come get it, as they will have better resources for finding the owner, as well as being better able to care for it.
