Hmm. All smooth will get greatly hot and radiate heat, increasing your A/C usage. Leave some trees, or plant some to confine some shade in summer. A grass is actually cooling, and reduce temperature around your house. Water for the grass is cheaper than electricity for A/C.
Maybe lawn and garden, next to sweeping paths through out. That could look great.
