how do I start a privit bush?

someone told me that if i took a clipping and put it in the ground it would root. Is this true

Answers:
You can start privit hedge/bush from cuttings. I would first pick up a root stimulator from your garden center. Roottone is a good one. Dip your cuttings into the stimulator and plant them in a good potting soil to get them started. After a couple months, you should be able to transfer these to the ground.

FYI, These are pretty cheap. While your at the Garden center looking for the Stimulator, price privet. They should have it although, this time of year it is more than likely in bare root. I think you will find it is so cheap, starting from cuttings may not be worth the trouble. Not to mention the privet will get a jump start if you plant them now vs waiting the two months for your starters to be ready. Just a thought.
